Our ensemble is a worship team comprised of musicians, both professional and volunteer, who come together to serve the Lord by leading worship at our 10:00 am Mass. They love a contemporary arrangement of a classic hymn and favor liturgical songs, both old and new, that are full of life and energy. Team members have a passion for leading worship music, yet many are active musicians in the local Madison music scene too.
Some team members are students or are recent graduates from the University of Wisconsin’s music program, while others are active in community bands and choirs. These singers and instrumentalists offer their gifts, whether guitar, piano, bass, keyboard, percussion, trumpet, violin, or flute, in hopes of drawing the community deeper into prayer and relationship with Jesus. Members of this group also lead several Praise & Worship events throughout the year.
Come worship with us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am!
If you have a heart for music and worship, we invite you to consider sharing your gifts with the Lord.
Whether you sing, play an instrument, or know how to operate a soundboard, we would love to have you involved with our Ensemble and Audio/Video worship team. Training is available.
A real anchor in our parish music program, our St. Peter Adult Choir can be found singing at the 10:00 a.m. Mass Sundays in rotation and collaboration with our ensemble from September to June. This welcoming community of singers is open to anyone who enjoys singing and is looking for a way to praise God in song. No previous musical experience or formal audition is required, just the ability to sing in tune and sing to the Lord.
While it is most helpful for singers to commit to our yearly schedule, we do have some flexibility and encourage newly interested singers to join seasonally or for special occasions. In addition to Sunday Mass, this choir sings for many special feast days and holy days. High school students in grades 9-12 are also invited to join the adult choir.
Rehearsals: Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, rehearsal times are extended to 8:00 p.m.
Cantors at St. Peter play a special role in leading the liturgy. They are not just singers, but leaders of song and prayer. They engage the community with their voices and gestures encouraging them to actively partake in worship. Prayer is an important part of a cantor's role. They take time to reflect on the psalm and pray the music so that God’s word has a chance to reach the hearts of His people.
This ministry is open to trained singers who are comfortable singing individually as well as with groups. Cantors sing at our 5:15 p.m. & 8:00 a.m. liturgies individually and sing at the 10:00 a.m. liturgies with the Adult Choir and Ensemble.
Our St. Peter’s Youth Choir sings at many key liturgies throughout the liturgical year from All Saints to Easter Sunday. It is open to singers and instrumentalists in 3rd grade through high school. Exceptions can be made for 2nd graders who read and listen well.
Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:25 p.m. on all scheduled Religious Education days, September through April.
Our Praise & Worship team is committed to spreading the message of the Gospel through music, reflection, and fun. The team, which is led by members of our Sunday morning ensemble, features guest worship leaders from the larger Madison community.
These nights include new songs by Christian artists mixed in with praise & worship standards. They also feature original songs and music written by the team.
We invite you to attend a worship night and to bring a friend to see what the buzz is all about. The evenings are casual and offer a chance for your soul to sing to the Lord. It’s about him and your relationship with him. We are just lucky enough to be there with you. You may love to sing aloud or you may love to just listen. Both are just fine. Lyrics will be projected. You may want to raise your hands in praise. By all means, go ahead. You may even wish to dance a bit. You wouldn’t be the first one. All ages are welcome to enjoy the fun!
Need information about our next event? See our Events Calendar to catch the next Night of Worship.
The success of these events depends on our team of volunteers. If you would like to help out with one of our events, as a part of our AV team or have an interest in operating a soundboard, lights, PowerPoint production, hospitality, or in many other ways. Please don’t hesitate to contact Brandon for additional information.
The St. Peter Adult Hand Bell Choir is open to music readers of all ages who are interested in making our special liturgies more beautiful. It is particularly well suited for those who play another musical instrument such as high school students or singers. The choir plays primarily for Christmas Eve & Easter Vigil Masses but can be heard at other special feast days and holy days throughout the year too.
